Illustration: Wk 11 March 16 PM

Due Today:

Pick a Shel Silverstein poem to make an Illustration off of.

Plenty are online if you were not present in class.

Make a Word Web.

Check out the example below. You will use your poem. You do not have to write the full poem in. Just the title will do. I only put the full poem, so you could understand my thinking.

Create 5 Thumbnails.

Keep in mind they will be a 2 page spread.

Illustration Size:

Full Illustration size: 17"x11" - Each page size: 8 1/2"x11".

Email me a photo of the Word Web and Thumbnails. alissa_a@creativecenter.edu or anapeladay@gmail.com

Find what you'll need, and one on style you plan to use. Not in school? You can send me links to what you will use.

Pro Examples:

"I was so luck to that I didn't have anyone to copy, be impressed by, I had developed my own style, I was creating before I knew there was any famous poets out there. I never saw their work until i was around thirty." - Shel Silverstein

In 1960 Bennett Cerf bet Geisel $50 that he couldn't write an entire book using only 50 words. The result was Green Eggs and Ham. We have been led to believe that Cerf never paid the $50.

"It is also more fun for the parent, teacher, or babysitter, who has to read and reread these books over and over. I try to put as much fun and action as possible into each book so that the reader may find something new each time it is read." - Richard Scarry

"I believe that the only differences between children and adults are life experience, wealth of associations and a child's dependency on an adult. I respect and hold in the highest regard children's sense of judgment”. - Alona Frankel

The moon in Sendak's books represent his mother looking down at him. He was a sickly child.
